The Department of Education Office of Elementary and Secondary Education awarded Omaha Nation Public School $950,000 on October 1, 2025, under the Indian Education — Special Programs for Indian Children program (CFDA 84.299) to deliver "The Power of Three: Reading, Culture, and Community," combining evidence-based literacy instruction with cultural learning and hands-on experience to strengthen reading skills, identity, and community engagement among American Indian students.
The recipient, Omaha Nation Public School (doing business as Macy, Nebraska-based school serving the Omaha Nation community), will carry out the project through September 30, 2027. The program funds demonstration grants on a competitive basis for initial periods of up to three years, with potential renewal for an additional two years if the Department determines the grantee has made substantial progress in carrying out its approved activities and, where applicable, is achieving the grant's objectives.
