This Project Grant award from the National Institutes of Health's (NIH) Research Infrastructure Programs (CFDA 93.351) will provide $450,173 to Seattle Children's Research Institute to acquire a new light-sheet microscopy system. This advanced imaging technology will support a diverse portfolio of biomedical research projects at Seattle Children's, the University of Washington, and other partner institutions in the Seattle area. The funded instrument will enable researchers to obtain holistic, 3D data on tissue structure, vascular networks, cellular localization, and neural circuit connectivity - overcoming limitations of conventional 2D histology. The award, effective from April 2025 to April 2026, will immediately enhance the productivity and innovation of 13 major and 4 minor users with NIH and other federal funding, driving progress in areas such as neurodevelopmental disorders, cancer biology, and tissue regeneration.
