The National Institutes of Health (NIH) through the Research Infrastructure Programs (CFDA 93.351) has awarded a $1,391,522 Project Grant to the Sloan-Kettering Institute for Cancer Research to purchase a Super Argus PET/CT 6R small-animal imaging system. This state-of-the-art scanner will replace the organization's existing Inveon MicroPET/MicroCT system, which is approaching the end of manufacturer support and service. The new Super Argus PET/CT 6R will be installed in the animal imaging core facility at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and will be used to longitudinally monitor cancer and other disease processes, assess cellular trafficking, evaluate therapeutic responses, and measure biodistribution of novel diagnostic and therapeutic agents in mouse and rat models. The award period runs from September 1, 2024 to August 14, 2025. The advanced imaging capabilities of the new system, including superior spatial resolution, depth-of-interaction correction, and extended field-of-view, will enable the cancer center to maintain, enhance, and expand its pre-clinical oncology research program.
