The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), through its Office of Policy Development and Research (PD&R), awarded a $284,614 Project Grant to The Johns Hopkins University. The grant, provided under CFDA Program 14.506 - General Research and Technology Activity, will support activities to prepare for a third wave of data collection in the Housing and Children's Healthy Development (HCHD) study.
Specifically, the grant will finance: (i) locating and engaging study participants; (ii) questionnaire development and revisions; and (iii) subgroup analysis of earlier results on hypertension response to a housing voucher. The proposed project will also include a report on findings from the sample location effort and analyses of neighborhood quality and mobility of treatment and control groups. The study, which builds on a randomized controlled trial of the impacts of the Housing Choice Voucher program on children's healthy development, is expected to be implemented between February 1 and September 30, 2025.
