The National Endowment for the Humanities awarded a $498,129 Project Grant to the University of Oklahoma to establish the OU Center for Creativity and Authenticity in AI Cultural Production. The goal of this 3-year project, running from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2028, is to create collaborative means for exploring the implications of generative AI technologies for artistic and cultural experience, particularly in the context of Native American cultural sovereignty. The center will bring together experts across the humanities, social sciences, and STEM fields to catalyze research on critical topics such as trust, authenticity, and relationality through a linked set of research teams, interdisciplinary conferences, edited volumes, and public speaker events.
