This $1,551,042 federal Project Grant award from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) under the Drug Use and Addiction Research Programs (CFDA 93.279) supports the establishment of a Regional Research Hub (RRH) in the Greater Metropolitan Atlanta area.

The primary objectives are to: 1) Conduct a pilot test of a previously developed intervention, Success-E, for improving linkage to and retention in care for 60-100 individuals with substance use disorders (SUD) leaving the Fulton County Jail; 2) Gather stakeholder feedback on the intervention's implementation; and 3) Prepare for a future scaled-up implementation trial across multiple counties in the region. The pilot and subsequent hybrid implementation-effectiveness trial will evaluate the Success-E intervention's impact on linkage and retention in SUD and medical care for people with HIV and those at high risk of HIV seroconversion who have SUD and are involved in the criminal legal system. Key partnerships are being formed with jails and community stakeholders to support this research.
