The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), under the CFDA 93.350 program, awarded a $1,077,369 Project Grant to Captis Diagnostics Inc., a self-certified small disadvantaged business based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The grant supports the development and commercialization of Captis Diagnostics' proprietary Lipid Nanoprobe (LNP) system, which can rapidly and efficiently isolate extracellular vesicles (EVs) directly from various human bodily fluids, including blood plasma, serum, urine, and saliva. This innovative technology platform aims to facilitate comprehensive molecular characterization and diagnosis of diseases through multi-omics approaches, including genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics. The project will further optimize the LNP system for EV enrichment, evaluate and validate the beta prototype as a research kit, and deliver four EV isolation kits for plasma, serum, urine, and saliva as research use only products. The completion of this Phase II project will enable the widespread integration of EVs in clinical diagnostics for various human diseases, such as cardiovascular, metabolic, cancer, neurological, and pregnancy-related disorders.
