The National Institute on Drug Abuse awarded a $297,061 Project Grant to Boulder Care, Inc. under the Drug Use and Addiction Research Programs (CFDA 93.279) to develop and test telehealth workflows for providing buprenorphine treatment for opioid use disorder in vulnerable settings. The project aims to make field-deployable, low-cost point-of-need technologies available to increase access to medication-assisted treatment in high-risk settings such as jails/prisons, emergency departments, and tribal areas. In Phase I, the project will develop and test workflows with 5 participants at each of 5 partner sites, culminating in qualitative and quantitative research findings. Phase II will then enroll 50 participants in Boulder Care's proven telehealth treatment approach across these 5 sites, with the primary endpoint of measuring duration of buprenorphine treatment over 48 weeks. Secondary outcomes will assess quality of life, functional status, and recovery capital. This project leverages partnerships with experienced technology provider Sano Health and the National Survivors Union to deliver scalable, life-saving treatment at the point of need.
