This $371,606 Project Grant award from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) under the Biomedical Research and Research Training program (CFDA 93.859) will support the Regents of the University of Michigan in conducting multidimensional research to understand and improve the design and delivery of RNA therapeutics.
The key objectives are to: 1) Develop an ultrasensitive screening platform to identify RNA cargo and carrier determinants for functional in vivo mRNA delivery; 2) Understand and predict the host response to RNA therapeutic systems via high-multiplex single-molecule protein detection; and 3) Probe the biomolecular interactions of nanocarriers and their effects on in vivo functionality through high-throughput profiling of biomolecule adsorption. The outcomes of this 5-year project are expected to establish integrated design rules for RNA therapeutic systems and advance the development of broadly applicable ultrasensitive profiling tools for diverse RNA therapeutics and disease applications.
