THE VAN BRIMMER DITCH COMPANY (VDBC), LOCATED IN KLAMATH COUNTY, OREGON, WILL CONVERT APPROXIMATELY 1,000 FEET OF THE OPEN, UNLINED CANAL TO A PIPING SYSTEM, USING A 60-INCH HIGH-DENSITY POLYETHYLENE (HDPE) PIPE. THE PIPE WILL CONNECT TO ALREADY INSTALLED PIPE USING A CONCRETE HEADWALL AND OR OTHER NECESSARY FEATURES. A CONCRETE SERVICE BOX WILL BE CONSTRUCTED AT THE SITE OF THE ONE TURNOUT LOCATED IN THE PROJECT SITE. THIS PROJECT WILL HELP PROVIDE WATER SAVINGS FROM REDUCED SEEPAGE AND ALSO DECREASE THE AMOUNT OF PUMPING THAT WILL BE NEEDED. THE DITCH HAS HISTORICALLY HAD DIFFICULTY DELIVERING WATER TO ITS LOWER REACHES AND TO THE IRRIGATORS WHO DEPEND UPON THE WATER IN THAT AREA. THIS PROJECT WILL HELP VDBC MEET THAT DEMAND. IN THE KLAMATH BASIN STUDY, COMPLETED BY RECLAMATION WITH INPUT FROM VDBC, IT IDENTIFIED CANAL LINING AND PIPING AS ACTIVITIES TO OBTAIN WATER CONSERVATION GOALS.
