The Johns Hopkins University received a $1,466,637 Project Grant award from the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR), under the Nursing Research federal grant program (CFDA 93.361), to implement a Trauma and Violence Informed Care (TVIC) intervention to improve HIV-related and mental health outcomes for women living with HIV/AIDS who have experienced intimate partner violence. The intervention includes: 1) universal education to create a safe healthcare environment for IPV disclosure, 2) counseling and advocacy based on women's strengths and priorities, 3) coordination with community partners to address social determinants of health, and 4) integration of technology-facilitated safety planning. The project partners will conduct a hybrid effectiveness-implementation study to evaluate the impact of the TVIC intervention on HIV and mental health outcomes, as well as examine implementation factors critical to sustaining the clinic-community approach. Additionally, a $954,643 sub-award was made to the Technical Assistance Collaborative, Inc. to provide technical assistance and incorporate the lived experiences of program participants into the TVIC intervention strategies.
