Through a $391,458 Project Grant award under the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's (AHRQ) "Research on Healthcare Costs, Quality and Outcomes" (CFDA 93.226) program, Arizona State University will develop and evaluate an online contraception decision aid called "ContraceptionForAll" for transgender and gender-nonconforming (TGNC) individuals assigned female at birth (AFAB). The key objectives are to: 1) engage TGNC AFAB individuals in participatory design to enhance the functionality and usability of the existing prototype; 2) assess the usefulness and usability of ContraceptionForAll through mixed-methods studies; and 3) conduct a randomized controlled trial to evaluate the digital intervention's impact on contraceptive decision-making, sexual health knowledge, and mental health outcomes for the TGNC AFAB population. This project aims to address the unmet health needs of TGNC AFAB individuals and promote healthcare equity for this gender-minority group.
