The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) was awarded a $616,071 Project Grant from the National Cancer Institute under the Cancer Treatment Research program (CFDA 93.395) to develop novel adenosine receptor inverse agonists for the treatment of metastatic triple negative breast cancer (TNBC). The five-year grant, which began on Feb 24, 2025, aims to advance the understanding and treatment of TNBC, an aggressive form of breast cancer that affects younger patients. As part of this project, UTHSCSA has incorporated a sub-awardee, Riverwalk Therapeutics, Inc., to support the development of small molecule drug candidates and provide expertise in commercial drug development. Riverwalk Therapeutics will manage the efforts of contract research organizations and consultants involved in conducting ADME, toxicology, safety, functional inhibition, and PDX efficacy studies critical to advancing a drug candidate.
