The National Endowment for the Humanities awarded New York University $459,999.98 under the Promotion of the Humanities Division of Preservation and Access federal grant program (CFDA 45.149) for the project "UNBOUND MOVEMENTS: DOCUMENTING U.S. SOCIAL REFORM IN THE TWENTIETH CENTURY" from May 1, 2016 to February 28, 2019. The project aimed to preserve and provide intellectual access to primary resources on social reform movements in the United States during the twentieth century held in the collections of New York University libraries, museums and archives. The grant funding supported efforts to catalog, digitize and make accessible archival materials documenting the activities and impact of organizations advocating for civil rights, women's rights, environmental protection and other social causes during this era.
