The National Endowment for the Humanities awarded a $50,441.74 Project Grant to the Autonomous Municipality of Caguas through the Promotion of the Humanities Division of Preservation and Access federal grant program (CFDA 45.149) to address risks posed by unstable temperature and humidity levels to collections held at the Caguas's Museum. Funds supported projects from February 1, 2018 to December 31, 2018 to promote preserving and providing intellectual access to resources. Given the program aims to ensure long-term availability and wide access to primary humanities resources in libraries, museums, and archives, it can be reasonably inferred the funding was used to install climate control systems or implement other collection preservation measures to protect artifacts from damage due to lack of electricity at the Caguas's Museum.
