The National Park Service, through the Outdoor Recreation Acquisition, Development and Planning program (CFDA 15.916), awarded a $600,000 project grant to the State Parks & Cultural Resources Division of the State of Wyoming. This 3-year grant, effective from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2027, will fund the rejuvenation of the Greenbelt Trail Playground at Optimist Park in Laramie, WY.

The project will replace the outdated play structures with an innovative, inclusive playground design to ensure a safe and enjoyable recreational experience for individuals of all abilities. The deteriorating engineered wood fiber turf will also be replaced with a new safety surface. The State Parks & Cultural Resources Division will subcontract this work to the City of Laramie. This project will bring the playground into compliance with ADA and Section 504 accessibility standards.
