The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) received a $20,123,297.09 Project Grant from the National Park Service's Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) Outdoor Recreation Acquisition, Development and Planning program. The grant will support the "St. Pauls Blue Greenway" project, which will transform obsolete public housing and an underground stormwater system into an open recreational park area. Key project elements include new amenities such as park benches, picnic tables, playgrounds, fitness equipment, environmental education space, and other stormwater management features to address frequent flooding in the community. The grant funding and local matching contributions will enable DCR to deliver this comprehensive outdoor recreation and green infrastructure development project over a 3-year period from 2024 to 2026.
