ARIZONA STATE PARKS WILL SUBGRANT THE LWCF AWARD TO THE CITY OF YUMA WHO WILL USE FUNDING TO CONSTRUCT NEW PARK, EAST MESA PARK AND THIS PROJECT WILL BE PHASED. THE FIRST PHASE THAT WILL BE COMPLETED IS ADDING THE INFRASTRUCTURE WATER, SEWER, ELECTRICAL AND IRRIGATION. THE FUNDING WILL ALSO BE USED FOR HARDSCAPE AMENITIES, AND INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND AND A SPLASH PAD. THE MASTER PLAN ALSO INCLUDES A FISHING POND, FIELDS, COVERED GROUP AND INDIVIDUAL PICNIC AREAS, FITNESS STATIONS, PICKLE BALL AND BASKETBALL COURTS, A DOG PARK AND RESTROOM. THESE WILL BE DONE IN FUTURE PHASES. THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO EXISTING PARKS AVAILABLE FOR THE COMMUNITY. THE PROJECT WILL PROVIDE A NEW RECREATION OPPORTUNITY AND PROVIDE AN AREA FOR THE COMMUNITY TO RECREATE TO STRENGTHEN BOTH THEIR PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH. THE PARK WILL ALSO BE PRESERVED IN PERPETUITY.
