NEBRASKA GAME AND PARKS COMMISSION WILL SUBGRANT THE LAND AND WATER CONSERVATION FUND (LWCF) AWARD TO THE CITY OF SOUTH SIOUX CITY TO DEVELOP A PLAYGROUND, ACCESS SIDEWALK, AND ACCESSIBLE PARKING STALL AT CURRY PARK. CURRY PARK IS ADJACENT TO CRYSTAL COVE PARK ON THE SOUTHWEST END OF TOWN. THE PARK IS ALONG THE TRAIL SYSTEM WITH GOOD PEDESTRIAN CONNECTIONS TO ADJACENT RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOODS. THE PLAY STRUCTURE IS 38 YEARS AND LACKS ACCESSIBLE PATHWAYS TO AMENITIES. A PLAY EQUIPMENT STRUCTURE THAT ALLOWS FOR SLIDING, BALANCING, CLIMBING, AND CROSS BARS WILL BE INSTALLED IN ADDITION TO TWO SWING STYLES, AND TWO SPIN STRUCTURES. THIS EQUIPMENT WILL BE INSTALLED ON POURED-IN-PLACE RUBBER ALONG WITH ACCESSIBILITY FEATURES, I.E., WHEELCHAIR PAD NEAR EXISTING SEATING, PATHWAYS TO ACCESS EXISTING AREAS, AND AN ACCESSIBLE PARKING SPACE. COMPLETION OF THIS PROJECT WILL BENEFIT THE COMMUNITY AND VISITORS OF ALL AGES AND ABILITIES.
