NEBRASKA GAME AND PARKS COMMISSION WILL SUBGRANT THE LAND AND WATER CONSERVATION FUND AWARD TO THE CITY OF SOUTH SIOUX CITY TO DEVELOP A PLAYGROUND AND ACCESS SIDEWALK AT COVINGTON PARK. COVINGTON PARK SERVES AN OLDER RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD. THE PARK COVERS AN ENTIRE BLOCK AND IS LOCATED NEAR THE TRAIL SYSTEM IN AN AREA DESIGNATED BY THE NEBRASKA DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AS A NE ENTERPRISE ZONE. A PLAY-EQUIPMENT STRUCTURE THAT ALLOWS FOR SLIDING, BALANCING, CLIMBING, AND CROSS BARS WILL BE INSTALLED IN ADDITION TO TWO SWING STYLES, AND TWO SPIN STRUCTURES. THIS EQUIPMENT WILL BE INSTALLED ON POURED-IN-PLACE RUBBER ALONG WITH ACCESSIBILITY FEATURES THAT INCLUDE A WHEELCHAIR PAD NEAR EXISTING SEATING, PATHWAYS TO ACCESS EXISTING AREAS, AND CURB CUTS ON CORNERS OF SIDEWALK.
