The Department of the Interior National Park Service awarded a $306,929.75 Battlefield Land Acquisition Grant (CFDA 15.928) to the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (VA DCR). This grant funding enabled the permanent preservation of 3.0 acres of the Reams Station II Civil War battlefield through a partnership with the American Battlefield Trust. The Trust acquired the Davis Tract land parcel and transferred a conservation easement to the Virginia Board of Historical Resources, permanently protecting this historic battlefield site. The grant required a 1:1 non-federal funding match. This Battlefield Land Acquisition Grant program assists state and local governments in acquiring and preserving threatened Revolutionary War, War of 1812, and Civil War battlefield lands.
