The National Park Service, through its Historic Preservation Fund Grants-In-Aid program (CFDA 15.904), awarded a $635,069 project grant to the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (NCDNCR). This grant will fund the development of a preservation plan and updates to the HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems at the historic Tea House site of the Charlotte Hawkins Brown State Historic Site in Sedalia, North Carolina. The grant supports the identification, evaluation, and protection of historic properties through education, survey, planning, technical assistance, preservation, documentation, and financial incentives. This project aims to document, interpret, and preserve the sites and stories of the African American civil rights struggle.
