ARIZONA STATE PARKS WILL SUBGRANT THE LWCF AWARD TO THE TOWN OF CLARKDALE TO RENOVATE AND IMPROVE AN EXISTING TOWN PARK LOCATED IN THE NORTHERN PART OF THE TOWN. THE PROPOSED PROJECT WAS DEVELOPED WITH INPUT FROM THE PUBLIC AND SKILLS OF A LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT TO CREATE A SITE PLAN BASED ON THE PRINCIPLES OF FOSTERING A HEALTHY COMMUNITY AND ENVIRONMENT, YOUTH ENGAGEMENT, AND SUSTAINABILITY. THE PROJECT WILL FOCUS ON SEVERAL IMPROVEMENTS TO INCLUDE NEW ACTIVITY AREAS INCLUDING ADDITIONAL WALKING PATHS, BASKETBALL PICKLEBALL COURTS, PLAYGROUND, ACCESSIBLE RESTROOM, AND A ZIP LINE. IT WILL INCLUDE NATIVE TREES AND BUSHES TO PROVIDE MUCH NEEDED SHADE DURING THE HOT SUMMER MONTHS. IMPROVEMENTS WILL BE MADE AT THE EXISTING PICNIC AREAS WITH UPDATED TABLES AND RAMADAS. THE PROJECT WILL ALSO INCLUDE BENCHES AND WATER FOUNTAINS FOR HUMAN AND PETS. THE OUTCOME OF THE PROJECT WILL PROVIDE ACCESS TO THOSE WITH DISABILITIES TO THE PICNIC AREAS, RESTROOM, PLAYGROUND AND COURTS. THIS PROJECT WILL PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL AGES AND ABILITIES WHILE ENCOURAGING MORE YEAR-ROUND RECREATIONAL USE AT THE PARK. THIS BEAUTIFUL PARK WILL DRAW NEIGHBORHOOD RESIDENTS TO GATHER, PROMOTING A SENSE OF COMMUNITY AND GIVE RESIDENTS A SENSE OF PRIDE, FOSTERING GOOD WILL BETWEEN THE TOWN AND RESIDENTS. BENEFITS ALSO INCLUDE AN INCREASE IN THE PROPERTY VALUE OF LOWER CLARKDALE RESIDENTS AND ECONOMY OF THE TOWN.
