Louisiana State University received a $272,364 Project Grant from the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Postsecondary Education under the TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program (CFDA 84.042) on September 25, 2025. The award, with an ultimate completion date of September 24, 2026, supports the delivery of comprehensive student support services designed to enhance retention and graduation rates among disadvantaged college students at the institution's Baton Rouge, Louisiana campus.
Under this grant, LSU provides on-campus tutoring, academic advising, career counseling, financial aid assistance, and educational workshops to low-income students, first-generation college students, and students with disabilities. The SSS program aims to increase the number of disadvantaged students who successfully complete postsecondary education programs and facilitate transfer from two-year to four-year institutions. The services also foster an institutional climate supporting success for students with limited English proficiency, students from historically underrepresented groups, students experiencing homelessness, students in or aging out of foster care, and other disconnected students, while improving participants' financial and economic literacy.
