The New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT) has been awarded a $4,500,000 Project Grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Transit Administration under the Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities (CFDA 20.513) program. This grant will fund the design, engineering, and construction of transportation infrastructure projects to improve accessibility and safety at various locations near transit services across New York City. Key activities include the implementation and rehabilitation of sidewalk extensions, pedestrian ramps, raised crosswalks, high-visibility crosswalks, and other traffic calming treatments. The completed projects are expected to increase accessibility and safety for school-aged children with disabilities, seniors, people with disabilities, transit riders, and surrounding communities in areas with transit service. All projects are anticipated to be 100% constructed and in service to the public by the completion date of July 1, 2031.
