This Project Grant from the Department of Transportation Federal Transit Administration totaling $55,664,613 will fund the purchase of 45 all-electric buses to replace locally funded buses that have reached the end of their useful lives. Awarded on August 10, 2021 under the Buses and Bus Facilities Formula, Competitive, and Low or No Emissions Programs (CFDA 20.526), the grant will obligate $55,597,377 in general funds and $67,236 in trust funds to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. As outlined in the grant, $11,132,922 in transportation development credits will be used to meet the matching fund requirement. The all-electric buses will be purchased through two subawards - 45 buses through subaward P1 using funds from Urbanized Area 1, and 45 buses through subaward P2 using funds from Urbanized Area 48.
