The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (Kcata) received a $1.5 million Project Grant award from the Federal Transit Administration's Federal Transit Formula Grants program (CFDA 20.507) on September 17, 2021. The grant funds will support operating assistance for expanded transit services in the Kansas City region through December 2026. Specifically, $600,000 will support new and extended Prospect MAX transportation services, while $300,000 and $300,000 from FY2019 Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program funds from Missouri and Kansas respectively will fund Regional Job Access service routes, including a new Route 252 in the Northland area of Kansas City. Kcata will provide $300,000 in local matching funds from local transportation sales tax revenues and other local funding sources.
