The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration awarded Westcare Minnesota, Inc., $750,000 under the Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program (CFDA 64.055) for the period October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026.
The grant funds community-based suicide prevention efforts serving veterans and their families in Minnesota through outreach, suicide prevention services, and connection to VA and community resources. The program aims to reduce veteran suicide by expanding suicide prevention services to eligible veterans and their families, including those not currently receiving VA health care, in areas with high suicide rates, rural communities, tribal lands, medically underserved areas, and regions with elevated minority veteran or women veteran populations.
This award represents year four of the grant program. Westcare Minnesota, Inc. must expend all obligated funding within the one-year performance period and maintain records for seven years from the award date or until resolution of any claims or audits, whichever is later. The organization will be subject to audit by the VA Office of Business Oversight at least once during a three-year cycle, with a final audit report and corrective action plan submitted to the program office as required.
