The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded a $1,218,559 Continuum of Care (CoC) Program (CFDA 14.267) grant to the City of Baltimore to provide a range of homelessness assistance services. The grant funds will be used to establish and operate projects under the CoC Program's five eligible components: permanent housing, transitional housing, supportive services, Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS), and homelessness prevention. Specific activities may include rental assistance, housing relocation and stabilization services, operating costs for supportive housing, and implementation of the HMIS system. The grant aims to decrease the number of individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the Baltimore area by improving the length of time homeless, reducing returns to homelessness, and increasing exits to permanent housing. The City of Baltimore will likely partner with local nonprofit organizations and community groups to deliver these federally funded services and programs to individuals and families in need.
