This $597,159 Continuum of Care Program (CFDA 14.267) award from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) supports a range of products and services provided by the Lake County Crisis Center for the Prevention & Treatment of Domestic Violence Inc. (doing business as A Safe Place), a non-profit organization in Zion, Illinois.
The award enables A Safe Place to provide emergency shelter, transitional housing, and comprehensive supportive services to minimize homelessness among domestic violence and human trafficking victims in the local community. Eligible activities under this grant include rental assistance, operating costs of supportive housing, and implementation of the Homeless Management Information System. In addition to the HUD Continuum of Care funding, A Safe Place has received significant grant awards from the Department of Justice to expand its capabilities, such as renovating the shelter to accommodate survivors with companion animals and operating a human trafficking taskforce.
