The Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration awarded the University of Colorado $599,999 on September 30, 2026, to establish and operate the National Center for Trauma-Informed Parenting and Family Interventions under the Center for Mental Health Services Projects of Regional and National Significance program (CFDA 93.532). The Center, led by the University of Colorado Boulder's Center for Resilience and Well-Being, will strengthen national capacity to deliver trauma-informed, evidence-based parenting and family interventions for children and adolescents ages 3–18 affected by trauma and their caregivers. The center will provide national training, consultation, technical assistance, intervention adaptation, web-based learning, and dissemination activities to equip providers, organizations, and child-serving systems across the United States with tools and implementation support. Capacity-building efforts target community mental and behavioral health organizations, child welfare and family preservation services, and other family support settings, with specialized focus on improving provider training and strategies to engage caregivers in trauma-informed evidence-based care. The award addresses two national gaps: limited access to trauma-informed parenting and family interventions for trauma-exposed children and families, and providers' lack of training and strategies to effectively engage caregivers in these interventions. Activities will help children and families access support earlier, stay engaged in care, and build relationships and skills that promote recovery and resilience. Performance occurs in Boulder, Colorado with a period of performance extending from September 30, 2026, to September 29, 2031.
