The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) awarded The Transformation Center Inc. $150,000 on September 30, 2026, under the Center for Mental Health Services Projects of Regional and National Significance program (CFDA 93.532) to implement the New Mexico Peer Leadership Network (NMPLN). NMPLN will strengthen peer leadership, self-determination, workforce development, and systems engagement for adults with lived experience of mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders throughout New Mexico, with particular emphasis on rural and tribal communities and priority populations including veterans and family members. The recipient will implement a statewide peer leadership and workforce development plan; establish a statewide peer leadership advisory council; provide leadership development, systems advocacy, and workforce development activities; and strengthen organizational capacity for long-term sustainability. The project will deliver at least four leadership development opportunities annually, four workforce development trainings annually, and quarterly advisory council meetings. The Transformation Center currently operates Soteria House, a peer-run residential alternative in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Performance of work occurs in New Mexico through September 29, 2029.
