The Government of the District of Columbia Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) has been awarded a $1,000,000 Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) Planning Grant by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) under the CFDA 93.696 Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic Expansion Grants program. The funding will enable DBH to prepare four prospective CCBHCs to become certified and ready to meet the CCBHC criteria and receive reimbursement for the 2026 CCBHC demonstration program. During the one-year planning grant period, DBH will establish a steering committee, provide training and technical assistance to the selected providers, and support them in meeting CCBHC certification requirements, including staffing, ensuring access to all nine required services, care coordination, cost reporting, data collection, and board governance. The goal is to expand access to comprehensive, low-barrier, and evidence-based behavioral health services for District residents, with a focus on populations adversely affected by poverty, inequality, serious mental illness, substance use disorders, and severe emotional disturbance in children.
