The City of Durham, North Carolina will receive $677,180 under a Project Grant award from the Executive Office of the President Office of National Drug Control Policy. The grant is part of the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas Program (HIDTA), which aims to reduce drug trafficking and production in the United States through coordinated law enforcement activities and information sharing between federal, state, local, and tribal agencies.
Through this two-year award ending December 31, 2023, the City of Durham will support HIDTA initiatives focused on dismantling and disrupting major drug trafficking and money laundering organizations operating in the region. Performance will be measured based on improvements to the effectiveness of these coordinated law enforcement efforts. The funding will aid local authorities in their efforts to cut illicit drug supply and distribution through collaboration with counterparts at all levels of government.
