The State of Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) received a $12,462,547 project grant from the Federal Transit Administration under the Metropolitan Transportation Planning and State and Non-Metropolitan Planning and Research program (CFDA 20.505). The grant will support planning initiatives for metropolitan planning organizations across Florida through March 2030. FDOT will use the funding to cover transit planning activities, including development of transportation improvement programs, state transportation improvement programs, unified planning work programs, transit studies, and long-range transportation plan updates. This will ensure Florida transit agencies meet applicable planning requirements and future projects are appropriately programmed into local metropolitan planning organization documents. Subrecipients, including metropolitan planning organizations and transit agencies across Florida, will undertake program support administration; general development and comprehensive planning; system and project-level long-term transit planning; and short-range transit planning, among other activities. The grant aims to preserve and enhance Florida's transit system through effective statewide and regional transportation planning.
