The University of Illinois was awarded a $521,000 Project Grant from the Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Research Laboratory under the Air Force Defense Research Sciences Program (CFDA 12.800) to develop a full field scanning wave field measurement system for advanced fluid-structure interaction characterization. The grant will support the acquisition and deployment of a scanning laser Doppler vibrometer system to capture full-field vibration measurements of complex structures interacting with fluid flows. These measurements will provide data to characterize fluid-structure interaction phenomena relevant to Air Force needs over the one-year period of performance from February 2023 to February 2024. The Air Force Defense Research Sciences Program aims to maintain technological superiority in scientific areas relevant to Air Force needs through basic and applied research.
