The California Institute of Technology (Caltech) received a $169,743 Project Grant award from the Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Research Laboratory dated February 1, 2023 for research titled "DURIP) FEW-CYCLE FREQUENCY COMBS IN THE MID-WAVE INFRARED."
Under the Air Force Defense Research Sciences Program (CFDA 12.800), Caltech will conduct research to develop few-cycle frequency combs in the mid-wave infrared spectrum. The Air Force Defense Research Sciences Program aims to maintain U.S. technological superiority through scientific research relevant to Air Force needs. Frequency combs have applications in spectroscopy, chemical sensing, and remote sensing, and extending their reach into the mid-wave infrared could enable new Air Force capabilities. The one-year project period will allow Caltech researchers to work on expanding this technology for potential future Air Force applications.
