The University of Southern California received a $350,000 Project Grant award from the Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Research Laboratory to develop advanced petascale numerical methods for solving and inversely designing massive computational physics problems. Funded under the Air Force Defense Research Sciences Program (CFDA 12.800), the award aims to maintain Air Force technological superiority in scientific areas relevant to its needs and prevent technological surprise by adversaries. The University will utilize a GPU cluster to enable research and development of petascale numerical simulation techniques over the one-year period of performance from February 1, 2022 to January 31, 2023. The Air Force Defense Research Sciences Program supports basic research at academic institutions and laboratories to sustain a strong national research capability in scientific areas critical to Air Force needs.
