The Fire Protection Research Foundation (FPRF) was awarded a $1,050,001.50 Project Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program. The three-year grant will support FPRF's work to enhance firefighter and public safety with respect to fire and fire-related hazards through September 2024.
As the research arm of the National Fire Protection Association, FPRF will use AFG funding to conduct research and develop resources to reduce firefighter injuries and prevent loss of life from fire and related hazards. The AFG program aims to provide direct financial assistance to eligible fire departments and non-affiliated emergency medical service organizations. This award will allow FPRF to advance those goals through research and knowledge sharing with first responders nationwide.
