The Federal Emergency Management Agency awarded the Newton Township Fire Department Station #2 a $149,149.60 Project Grant under the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG Program, CFDA 97.044) for the period of September 1, 2021 through August 31, 2023. The AFG Program aims to enhance public and firefighter safety from fire and fire-related hazards by providing critically needed resources. It is reasonable to infer that the Newton Township Fire Department will use this funding to acquire resources such as equipment, vehicles, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training, or other items that improve fire and life safety for both firefighters and the public they serve in Newark, Ohio.
