The City of Milwaukee received a $149,999.60 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) award from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (CFDA 97.044). The two-year project grant will support the goal and objectives of enhancing public and firefighter safety with respect to fire and fire-related hazards. Specifically, the funding will allow the City of Milwaukee Fire Department to provide critical safety equipment and resources to its firefighters through August 2023. The AFG Program aims to improve first responder capabilities through such means as protective gear, emergency vehicles, training, and other resources that more effectively protect communities from fire and related hazards.
