The Federal Emergency Management Agency awarded a $149,545.20 Project Grant to the Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Department on November 15, 2022 under the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program (CFDA #97.047).
The Iowa HSEMD will use the funding to support hazard mitigation activities as authorized under the BRIC program. Administered by FEMA, BRIC aims to reduce risks from disasters and natural hazards while also supporting climate resilience nationwide. The awarded funds will assist Iowa's efforts to strengthen infrastructure and lessen disaster impacts through various mitigation initiatives. As a state agency under the Iowa Department of Agriculture, the Iowa HSEMD will oversee delivery of BRIC-funded hazard reduction services.
