The Federal Emergency Management Agency awarded the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency a $773,271.94 Project Grant under the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program. The BRIC program aims to support states, territories, tribes, and local communities undertaking hazard mitigation activities to reduce risks from disasters and natural hazards. With this September 2022 award, the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency will implement hazard mitigation and resilience-building projects through September 2025. As the designated state agency, Nebraska Emergency Management Agency will oversee the delivery of services funded by the BRIC grant. This includes coordinating eligible activities with other state and local entities, such as the sub-awardee Nebraska Library Commission, to strengthen infrastructure and make Nebraska communities more resilient to future disasters.
