The Department of Public Safety State of Utah received a $293,808.82 Project Grant award from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program. The grant will support hazard mitigation activities from September 1, 2022 to August 31, 2025.
As the BRIC program aims to make federal funds available to states and local communities for hazard mitigation projects, the Utah Department of Public Safety will likely use the award to implement infrastructure or other resilience-building projects to reduce risks from natural disasters. Being located in Salt Lake City, Utah, the funded activities will presumably focus on hazards prevalent to that area such as earthquakes or wildfires.
