The Region 1 Planning and Development Council was awarded a $150,000 Project Grant from the Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration under the Economic Development Support for Planning Organizations federal grant program (CFDA 11.302) to develop and implement a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for a six-county region in West Virginia from July 1, 2022 through March 31, 2023. Through this funding, the Region 1 Planning and Development Council will facilitate a collaborative public-private sector process to create an economic roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy in McDowell, Mercer, Monroe, Raleigh, Summers, and Wyoming counties. The CEDS planning process supported by this award is designed to guide regional stakeholders in coordinating economic development efforts.
