This $500,000 Economic Development Administration project grant supports the Southern California Tribal Accelerated Clean Energy Economy Initiative led by the Pala Band of Mission Indians. The coalition aims to rapidly expand an innovative clean energy economy for the 24 tribes of the Southern California Tribal Chairmens Association region. Products and services include establishing an SCTACEE facility, building and operating at least one solar panel manufacturing plant, deploying a commercial- or community-scale tribally owned resilient clean energy facility, deploying a utility-scale tribally owned clean energy facility or facilities, demonstrating a dynamic wireless electric vehicle charging road, and establishing an intertribal transactive energy micro-market. These efforts will broaden the regional economy of SCTCA member tribes and support climate change mitigation by developing clean energy infrastructure. The funding falls under the Economic Adjustment Assistance program, which provides technical, planning, public works and infrastructure assistance to regions experiencing adverse economic changes.
