The U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy has awarded a $5,000,000 Project Grant under the Conservation Research and Development program (CFDA 81.086) to UHV Technologies Inc. to improve the battery recycling economy. The objective of the project is to: 1) Increase battery recovery rates by collecting batteries from various waste streams like municipal solid waste, automotive scrap, and e-waste; and 2) Sort the collected batteries using high-throughput artificial intelligence systems to categorize them by chemistry type. This two-step approach aims to enhance the overall battery recycling infrastructure and support the U.S. goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. The project will be conducted by UHV Technologies' Nanoranch division, a minority-owned small disadvantaged business, over the period of August 1, 2024 to July 31, 2025.
