The Department of Transportation Federal Transit Administration awarded the Connecticut Department of Transportation $1,616,384 under the Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities program (CFDA 20.513) on December 22, 2022 to support non-traditional transportation services through June 30, 2025. Fifteen projects across seven subrecipients will receive operating assistance to expand mobility options for seniors and individuals with disabilities in Connecticut where public transportation is unavailable, insufficient, or inappropriate. Ten projects will receive 100% federal funding and five projects will receive 50% federal funding of total costs. Subrecipients Eastern Connecticut Transportation Consortium, Greater Hartford Transit District, North-East Transportation Company, Norwalk Transit District, The Kennedy Center, United Way, and Northwest Hills Council of Governments will deliver the operating assistance.
