The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) awarded a $268,202 Project Grant under the Promotion of the Humanities Challenge Grants program (CFDA 45.130) to the Madison Children's Museum. The grant will support 15 months of climate action planning for the Caretakers of Wonder Consortium, an interdisciplinary multi-museum cohort across four U.S. bioregions that serves children and families. The consortium will participate in climate adaptation and mitigation assessments to inform individual climate planning efforts and establish net-zero pathways, long-term climate education strategies, and climate communication and adaptation plans. Collectively, the consortium, in partnership with the Association of Children's Museums, will produce aggregated climate action documents outlining measurable steps for the broader museum field to study and replicate. The award period is from April 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026.
