The Georgia State University Research Foundation Inc. was awarded a $351,003.20 Project Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities under the Promotion of the Humanities Professional Development federal grant program (CFDA 45.163) for the period of October 15, 2015 through December 31, 2017. The grant funded a project to examine Atlanta landmarks and history related to civil rights, with the goal of promoting better teaching of American history and culture. As part of the Landmarks of American History and Culture program, the grantee conducted research on sites significant to the civil rights movement in Atlanta and developed educational materials to share their findings and help incorporate this history into classroom instruction.
